The Perito Moreno Glacier is the most famous glacier in Patagonia (Argentina). This glacier is about 30 kilometers long and at the end the ice is 60 meters thick and 5 kilometers wide. On the Peninsula de Magallanes west of El Calafate, visitors can get very close to this massive ice mass to see and hear the action of the glacier up close.
