Penury drives parents to sell 7-day-old infant
Hetauda, oct 9. Dhan Bahadur BK and Mithu BK sold their one-week-old infant due to poor economic condition. Just a week ago, Mithu had given birth to twins, one of which was sold for rs 1.000 to a kin in order to minimize postnatal and maternity care expenses. Although the mother was reluctant to sell the child, father Dhan Bahadur, worst hit by poverty, had sold one of their newly born babies to a relative. Previous year, their girl child had died due to lack of proper care and nourishment.
